If for some reason your program shortcuts are missing in the start menu than you can use this command to quickly get them back.

  1. First open the start menu and click search.
  2. In the search bar type 'gpupdate'.
  3. Click enter and this will launch a command promt and the command will start executing.
  4. When it has completed it will either close the window or it will say the Computer Policy has updated.
  5. All your start menu shortcuts will now be back.
